RESEARCH PROJECTS
THREE-DIMENSIONAL BRAIN IMAGING
We develope new methods for staining the whole brain, using the most advanced methods of optical three-dimensional imaging: serial two-photon tomography and light-sheet microscopy, as well as creating methods for analyzing three-dimensional images of the brain. The work is carried out in close cooperation with the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and the Institute for Advanced Study of the Brain of Lomonosov Moscow State University. We have created the WM-Click method for staining dividing cells in the whole brain, DALMATIAN method for cell counting in 3D volume and CORGI method for registration and segmentation of 3D images of the brain. Received 2 patents.

REGENERATIVE POTENTIAL OF THE BRAIN
We investigate the features of stem cells functioning in a damaged brain and study the potential for compensating the functions of damaged brain tissue by neurons formed during adult neurogenesis. We use two models of brain damage: ischemia and trauma, as well as special transgenic animals and three-dimensional imaging techniques. The work is carried out on the basis of the Institute of Higher Nervious Activity and Neurophysiology of RAS in cooperation with the laboratory of N.V. Gulyaeva.

NEUROGENESIS IN AUTISM
We study neurogenesis in the brains of developing and adult mice of two transgenic lines - models of autism: with deletion and duplication of the chromosome region homologous to the human 16p11.2 region. In this work, we use the methods of multimarker labeling of stem cells, as well as three-dimensional imaging and 4D-visualization of the dynamics of neurogenesis in development.

RADIATION AND NEUROGENESIS IN THE HIPPOCAMPUS
In this project, we investigate the effects of moderate doses of gamma radiation and X-rays on neurogenesis in the hippocampus and related cognitive processes. The work is carried out in close cooperation with the Institute of Neurosurgery named after N.N.Burdenko.
